For our writing assignment, like in the text book, I would like you to start by choosing a i such as the DREAM Act or Arizona's SB 1070, explain the arguments of the various stakeholders in the issue (like in the text book's explanation of the assignment page 508), but take it a step further and develop your own position claim.
The white paper that your textbook asks for is really a comparative informational paper. Based on your research (feel free to use the recommendations on p. 508), develop your own argument and establish your own position and recommendations regarding the policy proposal that you have chosen to analyze.
You will need a multisided explanation of the policy issue that you have chosen, a clear enthymeme (claim, your thesis, and reasons), grounds (support for your reasons), possibly a warrant (if your underlying ethical assumptions may be controversial) and a response to possible counterarguments. Even if you feel passionately about your beliefs, keep your tone relatively unprovocative and treat the issue calmly and objectively as a shared concern.
Your essay's length will depend on the complexity of your chosen issue and the detail you require to effectively make your point. As sources, you may use articles from the book, or documents I have provided and any other outside sources you may find. You should have at least four sources. As always, use MLA documentation format
